This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
I'm just getting really sick and tired of flame wars on my art page, about people who didn't like what i had to say.
I'm not trying to be mean. I'm not trying to dash your hopes. In fact, i'm trying to help you get better. I'm trying to tell you what the people who aren't your friends see when they look at your picture.
I'm trying to give you honest critique....
REPEAT:
I DON'T HATE YOU! I DO NOT HATE YOUR ART. THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK!
----------------------------------
I do not judge the work of artists under the age of 18. I do not want to fight with children.
I don't care about judging old work, or scraps. Scraps are scraps because the artist didn't like them, they already know it's not right, they don't need feedback. And old work, well, it's old. And most people seem to improve overtime, so there's no point in digging in to the past...
I try really hard to judge the art for art's sake. I do take style into consideration, and I try very hard to not judge it by that alone.
I will not get into a fight with you. I don't care what excuses you have; I'll read them, but if you are just trying to start a fight, I will not respond back.
I will look at your artwork, if your request it. But please, if you're looking for an ego-boost, do not expect one. I will do an advanced critique for you. I hope to have an example of what this would include here soon.
I want to be fair. I will not block you, in case you change your mind. I will not hide comments from view - I'm not ashamed of what I say, and neither should you.
Also, as it was brought to my attention by another deviant member, I'm also going to refrain from critiquing commissions/ request/ kiriban/ gift art unless specifically requested. ----------------------------------
"People ask you for criticism, but they only want praise." --Somerset Maugham.
"All that a critic, as critic, can give poets is the deadly encouragement that never ceases to remind them of how heavy their inheritance is." --Harold Bloom (b. 1930)
"When the author has no idea of what to reply to a critic, he then likes to say: you could not do it better anyway. This is the same as if a dogmatic philosopher reproached a skeptic for not being able to devise a system." -- Friedrich Von Schlegel (1772-1829)
